CULTURE

Flagboy Giz is a Black Masking Indian and artist rooted in a generations-long Mardi Gras Day tradition. His work centers on hand-sewn beadwork and culture bearing.

Every suit is made bead by bead, feather by feather.

This is not costume work. It is detailed, disciplined, high-level craftsmanship grounded in tradition.

This practice takes a full year and culminates on Mardi Gras Morning

    EDUCATION

Flagboy Giz is also an educator whose work preserves Black Masking Indian culture for future generations.

Since 2025 Giz has worked with multiple New Orleans Public Schools helping teach this tradition.

Kids ages 7 - 11 learn all the skills to create Mardi Gras Indian patches from Giz.
